Once every month, we visit this great facility! While there, we play Bingo with the residents, hand out prizes, and spend time with the residents. This is a family-friendly event and means a lot to the residents. Meeting these people, hearing their stories, and seeing their smiles are the greatest gifts we could possibly receive.
We are the official and proud sponsor of Cub Scouts Pack #475. In addition to financial contributions, we serve as mentors to these impressionable youths. We support them in fundraisers, events, provide volunteer opportunities, meet with their governing body, and participate in their events. We are proud to be able to serve our future leaders in society!
Spring Creek is our adopted waterway in Colorado Springs. It is nestled between a golf course and a quiet neighborhood. At least quarterly, we gather together with the members of the community to remove debris, trash, or anything else that may not belong in this waterway. We have been supported and joined by the Valley Hi Golf Course, Fire Department, City of Colorado Springs, and the residents of the neighborhood. This is always a great way to meet new people and be active in our community.
Prince Hall Freemasonry is a branch of North American Freemasonry for African Americans founded by Prince Hall on September 29, 1784. There are two main branches of Prince Hall Freemasonry: the independent State Prince Hall Grand Lodges, most of which are recognized by Regular Masonic jurisdictions. Prince Hall Freemasonry is the oldest and largest (300,000+ initiated members) predominantly African-American fraternity in the nation.
Prince Hall, whom we as Prince Hall Masons recognize as the Father of Negro Masonry in the United States, made it possible for us today to be recognized and enjoy all the privileges of Free and Accepted Masons. He was born in Barbados, B,WI., in 1748 and settled in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 1765. On March 6, 1775, Prince Halland fourteen other Negro men were initiated in Masonry in an Irish Military Lodge, No. 441, and in March 1775 Prince Hall organized the First Black Lodge of Free Masons in the United States under the name of African Lodge No.1 and they operated by Warrant No. 459 ( that was granted in 1784 but not received until 1787). This warrant was issued from the grand lodge of England and they were renamed as African Lodge Number 459. On June 24, 1791, African Grand Lodge was formed.
To honor its founder, the name was changed to The Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Massachusetts in 1808. Today Colorado's Prince Hall Masonry can be traced as follows, Massachusetts, to Rhode Island then to Pennsylvania, then to OHIO, then to Kansas, then to Colorado Territory. On November 17, 1867, Rocky Mountain lodge No. 1 in Denver, Colorado was duly organized as a part of the Kansas Jurisdiction. On 17 January 1876, The Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Colorado was formed and continues to flourish today as The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Colorado and its Jurisdictions, Inc.
On March 12, 1947, the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts acknowledged Negro Masonry of Prince Hall affiliation in that state to be legitimate and "duly constituted." Since that time the courts of many of the several states and the U.S Supreme Court have decreed Prince Hall Masonry to be legitimate and duly Constituted,
Pikes Peak Lodge No. 5 in Colorado Springs, Colorado was organized and duly chartered on August 5, 1878.
